Seminars
ESI offers several types of seminars in groundwater modeling. All seminars are taught by Jim Rumbaugh, and feature our Groundwater Vistas software. Seminars include:
- Introduction to Groundwater Modeling using Groundwater Vistas
- Applied Calibration, Uncertainty Analysis, and Optimization (Advanced course)
- Customized On-Site Training
- Customized Web-based Training
Introduction to Groundwater Modeling Using Groundwater Vistas
The introductory course covers details on how to use Groundwater Vistas as well as general modeling concepts. Topics range from how to construct models to model calibration and strategies for simulating remedial designs. We are also covering an introduction on the use of GIS in modeling. This course is meant for those who want a quick introduction to how Groundwater Vistas works and/or MODFLOW modeling in general.

Applied Calibration, Uncertainty Analysis,
and Optimization (Advanced Course)
This is an advanced course for experienced groundwater modelers or for those who just want an introduction to these three advanced topics. Half of the course is devoted to calibration, with particular emphasis on the new pilot point, regularization, and SVD techniques in PEST. Other topics include Monte Carlo uncertainty analysis, optimization of well fields or pump & treat remediation, and an introduction to MODFLOW-SURFACT.
